Could someone help me with Honey Pearry clone %'s?
submitted over 11 years ago by testaccount54

I made a recent flavoring order but accidentaly picked up all TFA flavors, and when I went back to check the recipe I planned to use I saw it used Capella's and FE flavors.

I figure, flavor is flavor, it might not taste exact but I'm impatient and easily pleased, so I was hoping someone could help me adapt this to TFA flavorings?

The recipe in question is:

9.0% Pear (TFA) 4.5% HoneyDew (Fruit Express) 1.5% Sweet Strawberry (Capella)

The concentration recommendation for TFA Honeydew is 5%-10%, so I think I'll keep 4.5%, but with Sweet Strawberry, I only have Ripe Strawberry from TFA. I don't know how strong Capella's strawberry is supposed to be, but I think I'll bump it up to about 3% Ripe Strawberry.

Thoughts?

None of the clone recipes i have tried hit the taste spot on. I've tried the Pear/Strawberry/Honeydew combo in varying percentages without success.

I personally think honeysuckle is the ingredient that is missing from these recipes. 1-2 %

Guava or cucumber in very small %'s may also be involved.

I swear I taste a bit of cucumber in both honey Peary and Hobbes blood. I found this out by eating cucumbers while vaping both.

hmm good call, I had also experimented with yogurt flavor from flavor west. There is def a melony but not sweet/fruity aspect to it that I can't nail down.

I have been messing with honeysuckle and it is helping alot of my fruit mixes its not 'floral' like i thought it would be its more of a subtle sweetness, I mixed it with a cucumber/mint/key lime and it was very good.

Honey Pearry

All TFA

6.5% Pear
4% Strawberry
4% Honeydew

That's the recipe I use at least. The few people I sell to seem to love it.

Affirm.

I also mix this sometimes:

Honey Pearry v.2 (Apricot) (All TFA Flavors)

5.5% Pear
4.5% Apricot
4% Strawberry
3.5% Honeydew

Which is also very good. I've never tried the original though, so I can't say how close they are.

Just tried this, you're totally right. I plan on lowering apricot to 3-3.5% and up honeydew to 4-4.5% to get a more accurate HP type flavor but You sir, are a clever clever man.

I think I'm going to try this but leave out the strawberry. Should I push up the other two flavors or just one?

I'll probably make some serial batches anyway.

If you decide to mix it without the strawberry (Personal call. TFA Strawberry is fantastic) I would probably start with a test batch of these numbers, then work from there:

8.5% Pear
5.5% Honeydew

Just a disclaimer: I've never mixed that recipe, that is just hypothetical guesswork.

Too high on both in my experience. I stick to 6% pear and 4% honeydew after extensive testing of this pairing. Have also tried strawberry, black berry, blueberry, kiwi, lime, raspberry, and pomegranite verisons. So far, strawberry is best and following /u/Kleivonen 's advice, apricot really rounds out the pear/honeydew pairing nicely, though the apricot at 4.5% is too high in my opinion. (All TFA flavors used during this testing).

Think it would be just as good with Ripe Strawberry?

I use Strawberry Ripe in mine, around 4-5%. Also add about 3-4% apricot. Gives it an extra layer. I don't think the "real" one has Apricot though.

most clones call for Apricot, but VC himself has said there isn't any in it.

My recipe tastes pretty spot on (from memory.. I haven't had real HP in about 6 months)

I did 6% Pear, 4% Honeydew, 4% Strawberry Ripe, 2% Cantaloupe and 1% Sweet Cream

I used all TFA flavours as well

Didn't have any apricot in the order :( I'll do without.

I've been doing some experimenting with Ripe Strawberry, it seems like it's a pretty prominent flavor, it's not too overpowering at 5%, is it? I'll try 4% to start, thanks!

I would use regular TFA strawberry at 3% if you have it. If not, your recipe should still turn out nicely.
