The problem with DIY juice
submitted over 11 years ago by slaming

I used to be a 2ml a day vaper at max! Now since going diy I easily vape like 10ml a day! Yet still I'm saving money! This is the best thing I've found since discovering vaping!

Yeah, I've done some calculations and cost of DIY mix vs. store bought is 60-70% less

More like 90-95% less.

If you buy 1 Gallon of each NIC-PG-VG and do a moderately high percentage of flavor like 10% you end up spending $1.50 for 30ml. 30ml of decent stuff is $15.00 with any good reputation e-liquid brewer. So yeah I'd say about a 1/10th the cost of comparable e-juice. I just calculated it today using prices of US liquid suppliers with Flavourart extract prices. Now getting to that point in terms of mixing the right flavor without waste is a little trial and error which will initially cost some extra $$$.

Out of 42 recipes in my database, I show a range of 3 - 13 U.S. cents per ml. Most are 4-5. Online vendors seems to be near 50 cents per ml. Local B&Ms are 60+

I average 3p per ml with the current mixes I do, that is nic free and cheaper concentrates though. Buying 10ml of juice in the UK is about £4-£5, if buying bulk maybe 100ml for £20 but then your stuck with one flavour where as with DIY I can make my own mixes. Also unlike normal juices I seem to be able to get quite a few more flavour concentrates that you US guys use. I mean there is next to no chance of getting suicide bunny (I think there is 1 stocking in the UK charging an arm and a teste), MBV, or things like 5 pawns that I've seen. So I can actually start to experience some of the things you lucky guys do.

Several US brands of juices are available from CloudHouse Vapor (based in France), eg. 30ml of MBV Hawk Sauce for £10 (including postage).

I bet if you facebook'd Suicide Bunny and asked her how to get it, she'd help you out.

.50 is the lowest for decent stuff unless you want to experiment a lot.

It does seem that way but after the first couple mixes you get what you are doing and it becomes really fun.

I should probably clarify. Finding safe trustable supply vendors is the part, that I find daunting.

I can buy a RBA from any one and clean / sterilize it, but I can't do that with chemicals... With out spending money to have supplies tested for their chemical makeup.

I test my nic before it gets mixed with anything to make sure it's the right mg. wizard labs has never been off. I usually get essential depot for pg/Vg and the flavor apprentice for the flavors, I like that they tell you if there is something to worry about with the flavor.

Find a few recipes that really excite you and start small with your supplies, scale up when you get the swing of things!

> Think of it as two carton of smokes that you once did every 2 maybe three weeks. If you cannot handle it throw it out. But if it works, you will have months of ejuice for next to nothing. I know what you mean though, I am slowly doing it.

So what's the problem again?

I know, I can spend maybe $150 for 8 months to nearly a year's worth of base and a lot of flavorings, and have enough to make more mixes than I can count. I'll probably run out of flavoring before I run out of nic base.

I used to spend $150 every month on smokes.
