So I started making my own juice after being on here for awhile following a few simple recipes. Everything is going great. I load up in my pro tank mini and absolutely love the flavor, so I get home and put it in my ( cleaned ) kayfun lite and its tasteless , put it in my patriot clone, tasteless.
Things I know - 70/30 vg/ pg mix 6mg nic.
Miniprotank on a evod battery
Kayfun lite at 3.9 watts on nemesis clone
Same with patriot.
My girlfriend who does not Vape tried it out of MPT2 and said it was great then out of a kayfun said it was tasteless.
Frustrated. Any help would be awesome.
In the same boat, buddy!!
Been on this conundrum for 3 months now. I've only used fruity flavors (and some root beer, but at 100% VG that might have hurt it) and the flavor always comes out muted. And when nicotine is added, notably at 12mg, there is a noticeable pepper/metallic taste that overpowers the original flavor, even if the flavor is mixed 25%. Quite distasteful.
The flavor was always quite lacking and I'm stuck with my protank until I can make more juices to really test the waters with this issue.
Mind you, my kayfun has gone through extensive and harsh cleaning over 3 months, so let's rule that out once and for all.
This issue is real and I'm amazed nobody else has managed to provide more insight
Edit: the flavor in question is the same one I'm talking about and having frustrations with: a strawberries and cream mixture, except it goes by the name of Tiger's Blood.
Could be you wick and coil setup in your RBA's. What are you running in them?
Kayfun Micro coil with organic cotton 1.4ohms
Patriot dual coil .87 cotton wicks- thing is other juice has tasted good with it - the flavor in question is capellas strawberry and Bavarian cream
ya idk I run capella's strawberry all the time in a dripper set at .7 and have never setup my kayfun higher than 2.0 usually preferring the strawberry around 7% if its the dominant note in the recipe. Haven't every had any issues tasting it.
Maybe the flavor is too high for you and its burning your taste buds out? Too much can be as bad as too little fwiw and protanks do tend to mute flavors.
Try a silica build in the patriot first to see if the wicking material is causing the issue. I noticed when I had a cotton build in my fogger and used a certain e liquid (stanley max's snake oil) it would constantly taste like I was dry hitting, was pretty frustrating going to rebuild to find the wick was fine, then burnt tasting upon rebuilding and filling again.
One day I tried it rebuilding with ekowool and the juice tasted how it should, not burnt. I still use cotton in every other device though.
Lower ohms can kill some flavors. I make a horchata flavor that tastes completely different, and loses the sweetness on sub ohm or higher voltage. Before I started DIY, I couldn't use some vendors fruit flavors in anything but my protank 2.
What is the flavor you're making, and if you don't mind sharing, what are the ingredients, and flavor vendor?
My girlfriend wanted strawberrys and creme so I used capellas strawberry and tfa bavarian cream strawberry at 9% and cream at 6% smells amazing. I'll rebuild my kayfun to a 2.0 or higher coil and see how that goes.
I have the same problem with my Kayfun. Not with my flavors (they're all still resting/steeping), but with flavors I've been vaping for forever in my Kanger products (various).
No flavor / muted flavor in my kayfun.
Hm well I'm glad I'm not the only one. I recoiled to 2.4 ohms and its a little better but not close to pro tank mini so I'll just vape in what tastes good. My snake oil clone is amazing out of a kayfun so I have that going for me. Also purchased a MVP 2 so I'm going to mess with wattage and see if I can't make it better
