You're going to want some bigger syringes to move larger quantities of VG. And you may want to stick to one each of the flavors until you've tried them. I have a bunch that I thought I would like that I just really don't touch.
I'll look into getting some different syringes. I based those off of the "getting started" guide in the side bar. Some of the flavorings I chose from recipes others have posted. Some are what I assume "Popular" juice makers use (Space Jam). Others I just wanted to try or Wizard labs was sold out so I substituted TFA with LA. I think some will be in stock soon so I'm going to purchase them when they arrive. For the price I thought I'd get a couple of each just in case I liked them.
No PG, eh? That leaves you at the mercy of whatever you mix from the PG nic base and VG. If you maybe wanted to try a higher PG blend in your final product, you may want to pick up some PG as well. You have enough bases to make 620 ml of ~19mg, were you shooting for around 14-18 mg in your final product? Or maybe order some more VG/PG later?
Going to need a lot more syringes and tips than that. You will go through them faster than you would initially suspect. I find that glassware (graduated cylinders) is easier to measure out bases than syringes, but ymmv.
Make sure you have and wear eye protection when using that nic base, I would suggest splash guards as well (for arms).
And add some TFA Pear in there for kicks. Even if you don't like pear, it is just an awesome flavor. You may want some sweetener flavoring as well, either TFA marshmallow and/or ethyl maltol are good choices.
Good luck and happy mixing!
I'm going for max VG (~20/80). That's why I didn't order PG but chose the PG option for nic base. Do I need PG? I'm going to be mixing 12mg~14mg batches (maybe with extra flavor shots due to max VG). I'm tired of spending ~$1.00 mL for juice and this DiY seems almost overwhelming but I want to try.
It's definitely not overwhelming. If you are capable of measuring ingredients while cooking, then you can definitely do DIY. Just use caution with that nic base, it can harm you if mishandled.
If you want max VG, then you are probably fine with what you have. PG is nice to have around if you want to make your own extracts or solutions (from EM crystals or menthol crystals for instance), or to tailor your ratio.
I take it you're ordering this from WL. You need to add some Marshmallow and TFA's "sweet cream" is really good to me. WL is a good start for testing flavors in small inexpensive quantities but their flavor selection is limited. You'll find certain flavors from other manufacturers are better. Take vanilla for instance...I've tried many different vanillas from various manufacturers and at the moment my Hangsen vanilla is on top...same with FlavourArt...I prefer their marshmallow, fresh cream.
For me it's Hangsen for tobaccos, oh and vanilla now, TFA & FA for my marshmallow and creams. I don't do fruits/desserts much...altho I'm messing with a few chocolates/creams/coconut/marshmallow mixes now (Capella coconut is killer). I've heard it said that Inawera & Hangsen have some really good fruit/dessert/drink flavors although most people tend to overlook these sources and get hung up on the more well-known manufacturers...also Azure suppose to have some nice flavors.
Pick up vg and pg on amazon. About 12.50/qt shipped from essential depot. Comes to 946ml of each according to Google. Double the amount for 3 dollars more. Also, syringes and needle tips aren't bad on the either. Comes to a few cents less per unit. Biggest benefit is if you have amazon prime.
I second Essentials Depot, (first diy buy) just picked up a gallon of pg and a gallon of VG for $55 shipped.. you just can't beat that price/ml with shipping :) also, ordered on thursday or friday, got it saturday.
You can get a centigram scale from Ebay for like $10, then you don't have to worry about syringes so much and you can measure by weight. Also, syringes make great graduated cylinders for VG if you take the plunger out. Sucking VG through a needle sucks.
Everyone always says measure by weight.
How do I do that with a volume calculator like EJuiceMeUp? Is there a different calc or am I dumb?
So have you already ordered this stuff?
My suggestions:
- get 50mg nic base instead of 100mg. Sure 100mg saves you a bit of money, but it's not as safe to work with as 50mg. Heck, if you want to be SUPER safe get 36mg (then you literally have nothing to worry about).
- You can get gloves way cheaper than that at walmart.
- Get some PG... I know you are going 80/20 but you never know when you'll need some base PG to even out the mix.
- While ejuice me up defaults at 20%, I'd suggest always starting a flavor at 10%.
Wow, $16.00 for 50 pairs of gloves? Is there something special about those gloves that make them cost almost 4x as much as going down to Walmart, Walgreens, CVS etc.?
