I'm impatient, I want to brew juice that's vapable right from the go. I'm not opposed to steeping as part of a DIY process, but I want something decent when its fresh, even if it improves with steeping. I don't steep my vendor juices.
I've recently had the unpleasant experience of sampling vendor juice from an online retailer only to be hugely disappointed with overpowering soapy or medicinal tastes in the juices. I assume this is from the flavors, and seeing that flavor distributors tend to be a finite bunch I'm hoping you guys can help identify which vendors have the best flavors without a steeping process. Additionally, for Lorann, which flavors do you use for juice? Hard candy? Candy? Baking?
Your input and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Reportedly, Flavor West (which is also what MBV is selling as "DIY" flavors) and Capella's require little to no steeping. The trade-off is that you need to use more flavoring as they are not as strong as other manufacturers. 15% to 20% flavoring as a guideline, depending on the flavor. I find the more concentrated flavoring I use- TFA and FlavourArt- need longer for the flavor to infuse throughout the solution. Also, stick with single flavor mixes if you want to avoid having to steep: the more flavors in a mix, the longer you need them to steep for the flavor to fully "develop."
Additionally, you can do a reddit search on "steeping" to learn all about shortcuts. Too many for me to list here, but they do work.
I recommend TFA. Their flavors are very good fresh and only get better with steeping. There are some that do require steeping as they drastically change though, chai tea comes to mind here.
For Lorann, you want Lorann Naturals. Nothing that is oil based. If you grab the eliquid calculator from ECF it contains a list of flavorings that are safe to use, many of the ones that are not safe to use are because they are oil based. Stay away from oil based flavors.
When you find a flavor you like that you don't have to steep is AWESOME except that it will change overnight and into the next day which probably will turn it to a less satisfying vape. The flavor will change.
If you just accept steeping as a normal process it makes it all better. Also flavors a hugely subjective thing, and extremely personal what you like without steeping will be different than another persons
I'll name names, I took advantage of NicVape's "Show The Love" 80% off sale. Every one of their flavors I had tried tasted like soap, perfume, medicine, or a dirty ashtray.
I'm looking for flavors that do not require a week or more of steeping to get rid of a soapy or perfume flavor.
All the usa ejuice on steammonkey is presteeped. I just bought some simple #1, and it is the best straight tobacco I've had with out steeping (tobacco needs a lot of steeping)
It's good by itself but I've been mixing it with Papesauce Oak barrel cider, some mbv coffee and a few other flavorings. Pretty nice, but I think it needs a nutty note that's missing..
for Lorann you only want to use their super concentrated flavoring. And I suggest you visit ecig vendor sites that sell flavorings to see which flavors they sell (not all lorann flavors should be used for ejuice... so you can visit say lorann's web site, but before buying a flavor check to make sure other vendors sell it also... if it's not vapable then you'll see that they aren't selling it and yous hould probably stay away from it).
I had a giant thread on my experiences with Lorann. Some of their flavors are pretty good: cheesecake is amazing, raspberry is very good in certain mixes, peach is very good in certain mixes, bubble gum is ok, banana cream is ok, english toffee is good, etc
