Sweetener Questions
submitted over 11 years ago by [deleted]

My first shipment should be here tm and its coming from Wizard Labs and all flavoring is TFA. I did get the EM 10% but some recipes i have seen call for em AND sweetener. I did some reading and people say they like to use stevia over sucarlose so i got some liquid stevia from my local heath store that sells all natural stuff. the ingredients are just distilled water, stevia, and 11% alcohol. Has anybody used this and what is your success/failure stories on it

IMO sweeteners mess up flavors more then making them sweet.

You know, I am starting to believe there is a lot of truth to that statement. I was about to rework a few recipes minus the EM I have been using in them.

I have used it, about 1 drop per 5 ml of juice seems to impart a good deal of sweetitude. Stevia leaves a funny aftertaste to me though. I usually stick with EM, TFA Marshmallow and/or FW Caramel Candy for sweetening now.

I have a black and mild wine flavor i make with liquid from my local shop and added 2 drops into a 1.6 ml tank and it sweetened it up with out changing the flavor too much. Did you have any problems with it clogging coils?

Not as much as sucralose or the aforementioned caramel candy. Both of those are serious coil gunkifiers.

ya thats why i stayed away from TFA's sweetener because its sucralose

I agree with you and the stevia aftertaste. My dad uses that shit in his cooking and it tastes like chalk.

Marshmallow is as close as I'll ever come to using any sweetener...a personal preference..

What percentage do you use for using it strictly as a sweetener. Im just getting into the whole diy world and taking notes as i go along

Varies but somewhere between 3-5%

Lately I've been liking Cotton Candy (EMl) at 1%

Sweet Cream flavoring is a good option, if it works within the context of your recipe.
