Going down in nic really affects things...
submitted over 11 years ago by joekerr37

It's crazy how as you lower your nic, while the taste is still there, it's not nearly as enjoyable as when you have higher nic.

I'm down to 6mg and I find myself not enjoying vaping as much for the first 3-4 days at a lower nic level (then I seem to adjust and its ok).

I was hoping that the flavoring would offset any effects from lowering nic, but it doesnt :(

On the plus side, it's nonetheless nice to be at 6mg (getting closer to kicking the nic habit all together).

I found I enjoy the vape more at lower nic. So I guess YMMV

I hear ya. When I dropped from 18 to 12 to 9 to 6 to 4 to 2 i vaped a lot more those first couple days. However, using a .6 ohm coil in my kayfun really helped out. I plan on dropping down to 1 soon and then 0. What a crazy ride it has been these past couple years....

Not a lot of Chicago fans on this subreddit. Tragic. :(

Can I ask how many wraps you did to drop it down to .6 ohms?

Sure. 3 wrap of 28g kanthal. I don't use contact coils. Please remember to practice battery safety.

I've been at 6 for a few months and my body no longer craves vaping. I'm winding down my vaping journey and it's kind of against my will. I enjoy vaping, but it's something I no longer seem to need.

I'm finding that as well - I'm not intentionally dropping, I'm finding I just don't want the higher nic levels as much. Started at 24 - 32mg, now down to 10mg without ever intentionally deciding to reduce.

Contrary to OP, I do notice a difference in flavour. Higher nic level seems (to me) to reduce the flavour, especially if the juice sits a while.

And, while I do still usualy enjoy vaping, sometimes I find that I just couldn't be bothered. I expect it will eventually become a "Friday with drinks" thing.

Might consider running a little RDA like an igo-w or somesuch when you're stepping down/struggling. A good dripper setup (it doesn't need to be sub-ohm or expensive) will almost force you to lower your nic. Granted, you're getting more nic in the vape, so there is that, but I suspect a lot of us who are routinely at 6 are using drippers or a little hotter setup much of the time. Good luck!

Ya I was good down to 9.

8 was OK. 7 sucked. 6 is disappointing.

You might want to go back up a bit then, until your body gets used to lower amounts :-P

How quickly did you drop down?

Probably over 3 months. I went down 1 mg at a time.

I've found slowly that my body has started reacting adversely to large amounts of nicotine.. I started vaping 6mg immediately upon switching to RBAs. Now, I can vape Icicles at 6mg out of my kayfun, but when I drip for dumb cloud chasing (don't do it kids) or for flavor testing, I can't even stand dripping 2mg. :-(

I was vaping like crazy on weekend mornings, going through 5ml of juice (@ 6 mg) in a few hours in my Kayfun clone, and even at the 6mg level that much nic was making me jittery. So this weekend I made a batch of my ADV at 3mg. The jitters went away, but the taste was drastically different - almost no throat hit, and unsatisfying. So I put one drop of Jalapeno flavoring (TFA) in the tank with the juice, and... WOW. I'm so happy with that result that I may start adding a couple of drops to everything I make. Experiments need to be done regarding what is the right amount of jalapeno, but it is a real help to recover lost throat hit.

I just dropped to 0mg about a month ago. I didn't notice the flavor change, just the throat hit. Give it a little time, maybe?

If you do make the jump to 0mg, just be prepared for it. Try vaping some 0mg once in awhile to get used to the lack of throat hit, then ease into it. I spent a good week vaping like a fog machine before I got comfortable with it.

Actually, I kinda like it now. :)

Ya, I blame to keep going down 1 mg at a time. After 3-4 days I seem to get use to the lower level, but its never as fulfilling as when i was at 12mg. But it's not like withdrawal or anything... more like switching from regular soda to diet soda or something.

add a little PG to mimic the throat hit from nic. ;)
