Drops per mL

I was wondering what you all set your calculator to for drops per mL I received pipettes from tva and I filled 1 ml with 40 drops...freaked me out because it seemed so high, but the pipette is so tiny. Just want to make sure I won't be getting sick from to much nic.

All liquids have a different density. Measuring by drops can be extremely inaccurate.

I only use pipette for ingredients that you usually just wing it with. If I need exact amounts, I use my various syringes. Also, I almost never go by drop per ml...

I wish the pipettes from wizard labs were marked to where I could read them. They are long and skinny, and easy to reach into the bottles. But for the life of me, I cannot read anything except the 1 ml mark.

I highly suggest using a 10ml or 5ml syringe or a graduated cylinder when measuring nic and flavoring. Its a lot more precise. For sweeteners you can go by drops, since its rarely more than 2 or 3 drops that are necessary

Measuring flavors by drop isn't a big deal, but I would measure the nic with a syringe that is marked - need to be as precise as you can with nic, IMO.

I always measure flavour by drops as it saves stinking up syringes. I would say it definitely is not a precise method. If you get suggested to use 10% (1ml in 10ml) 20 drops will vary and usually give you less. I usually add a couple extra drops per 10ml if I think it needs it.

Yeah, flavors can be played with. And even nicotine could be estimated, I GUESS. But I'm paranoid and want to keep the nicotine measured as closely as I can.

For nic definitely use decent syringe or for best accuracy a graduated cylinder.

"Drops" is useless as a measurement. You have to consider the density and viscosity of the liquid, its temperature (which affects viscosity), the diameter of the aperture of whatever you're using as a dropper, whether you have a really steady hand... and probably other factors.

If you're playing with flavours, don't worry about it. If you're measuring nicotine or any substance that has a required dosage, use a syringe.

What I did to see generally how many drops per ml is I went to Wal-mart and asked at the pharmacy for a 1ml syringe. Capped off the bottom end and pulled out the plunger and just counted the drops till it hit the 1ml mark. From the small TFA flavor bottles that I have, it comes out to about 38 drops per ml and just use that as my guideline when mixing liquids.

Yea I gt about 40 drops per ml too. So when I put like 4 or 5 drops into something I can calculate the actual %

Doing your mixes based on drops can lead to some inaccurate mixing. What I do is get a 10 or 25mL graduated cylinder and use the dropper bottle to fill it up to whatever mL the mixing calculator tells me.
