So there I was... at my local B&M, looking down through a glass top display case, at boxes of bottles of juice and a placard above them reading "Gotta Go - 15ml $4.99 ea."
How am I going to pass on this? I picked up two from each of the two brands strewn in a box with no discernable order of mg, flavor types, age, this was clearly a house cleaning of old juice. (The sadly now defunct) Veteran Vapers' and, I kid you not, eGo brand juices. For the Vet Vapes, I got a coffee-tobaccoy "Breakfast Blend" and "Grapple."
Breakfast Blend is decent, if light, and nothing really tobaccoy per se, but I'll vape it, what am I too good? It's Grapple that ticked me off. Smelt light, might be because it's old, but it's obviously fruity. Not overtly grape, not particularly apple, in fact, if I had to pin it down I'd just go with "berry" and call it a night. If I could taste it, that is."
Evod, nothing. Mini Protank 2, nothing. Boge carto I swiped from the missus, nadda. IGO-W, nice fat little cloud, nothing in the flavor department. It's so incredibly muted, so not there, it was a let down. It still smells, the bottle dropper that is, but now I think it's just the left over residue I'm picking up. How lame.
So, it sat in my drawer, and every couple days or so I'd come around and give it a shot, because surely I was just doing it... Wrong... And each time I sink a little. I don't even like fruity vapes. Seriously. I have, like, two of the twenty five or so bottles not counting Grapple that are fruit. But for whatever reason, this kinda pissed me off. I think I felt deceived, passed the smell test, man, it's like I was lied to. By my own face.
So I head down to the B&M today, just taking a look around, and I see that they've restocked a display of 'mix your own' ejuice flavorings. You buy these little jars of base juice, then a seperate juice packet, mix it yourself, voila - flavored juice. I tried it once before, got alright results, but got swept up in the equipment race against my own financial limitations and it got left by the wayside. But I had an idea.
Looking through, I pluck out a vanilla flavoring packet to take home and toss in that bottle of Grapple. If it's practically flavorless base, vanilla surely will cover it all up and I'll have some vanilla juice instead of lying garbage that sits there mocking me. Get home, shake shake shake, pour the flavor in, shake shake shake, toss it in the closet for a few hours. More shaking. Smells good, but not what I expected. I smelt lies before, I didn't want to get excited. Put a little bit in an empty Aspire clearo, prime that bad boy a minute and inhale, seriously, some delicious as hell vape.
I about fell over. The grape is very prominent, the apple not so much, and I swear there's just some random berry flavors in there, but whatever that packet of vanilla did, it woke this juice up. Everything sits in a blanket of pretty generic vanilla, but I'm telling you this is a whole nother juice. Creamy, like a bowl of ice cream with jelly spooned onto the top.
God this is good. Not because it's exceptionally, fantastically, turn around and sell it for $90 a bottle-good - but because it was crap and I made it something that I'm comfortable, and excited to vape. And I did that. And that feels awesome.
Heh, funny that, I get paid tomorrow. See ya round, guys.
So these flavor packets... are they a powder? I make my own liquid and flavorings are in liquid form. I haven't ever seen powder based flavoring, so I would be very weary of what your inhaling. I would go back to that B&M and be asking questions about what is in those packets.
No means to scare you but I wouldn't vape that anymore, until you had answers.
