Made A VG Base
submitted over 11 years ago by Bluesed

Got a suggestion from someone to try this base and so far I'm feeling good about this. Made a mix I make regularly using this base and it has a smoother taste, pronounced flavor and no drying throat irritation.

80% VG - 9% Distilled Water - 9% Saline Solution (0.9) - 2% PGA/Vodka

Are you saying that

>80% VG - 9% Distilled Water - 9% Saline Solution (0.9) - 2% PGA/Vodka

Is your new base and you add pg and flavors

Or are you just vaping 80% VG - 9% Distilled Water - 9% Saline Solution (0.9) - 2% PGA/Vodka

I'm using it as my VG base and then adding nic and flavors. I made up 30mls to try out on a few mixes

Have been rolling this idea around myself, lately. Seems I notice DW and PGA in use most frequently on UK sites. Saline has my interest but I haven't decided to try it yet.

My simple logic keeps telling me that since the vapor is absorbing moisture from me, maybe if I add some water to the juice/vapor it will collect less from me.

I picked up a gallon of distilled water about an hour ago.

Just a quick note on this. I did mix up 10ml test of this 9/9/2 VG base using some DW, diy .09 saline, and some Absolute Vodka I had available. A-B'd that base with the ED VG alone for an hour or so. It's different enough I'll experiment with it more. I pretty much dried my head out with the VG alone then switched to this mix and it was more soothing or something. Seemed to be better. But it I'm not sure I care for it at 20%. I think I'll make another batch at 5/5/2 (and Everclear) and see how that is.

I didn't make any detailed notes but I was left with the feeling that it does either add (or not absorb as much) moisture, and might be a little soothing on my sinus'. The vapor is a bit less chunky/heavy which is to be expected, I suppose, since it's diluted. It does get a little weird when I approach the area of a dry hit in an RDA. Just tastes kind of musty or something right before the bad one if I let it go dry.

I'd say in general it felt a little more in balance with my body chemistry than the VG alone. I haven't tried mixing any flavor with it yet.

I also use that base, and I can say I enjoy it better than the standard 50/50 mix.

Saline Solution? Like, for contact lenses?

I don't know what contact lens solution has in it but you want the kind that is literally just salt and water. Check the ingredient list as some solutions will have other things in them.

Does it dehydrate you more?

Actually, it's reportedly the opposite, it'll keep your mouth and nose from drying out as fast. Nasal sprays are essential the same thing for the same effect. The big debate currently is if the salt vaporizes properly or if it remains in the wick and coil and gunks up the atty faster.
