Today it happened, I knew this was coming.

I was however unprepared, I am really used to my liquid beating almost all the pedestrian fluids but I still purchased "premium" liquids because they seemed to taste better. I don't know if its me or my mixing but I believe I just out did Space Jam.

My daughter in-law knows I love the Space Jam Astro but the local B&M has been out and I have not felt like ordering any. She was in the store and saw they had it so the bought me a bottle... yea, my mix based on the Astro flavors was preferable to me, also to my wife, daughter in-law and son. Side by side we all preferred my "Space Oil" My other mixes were also preferable to other Space Jams... Watch out 5P you are next on my list...

I early on made great mixes that replicated Snake Oil and Snake Bite, so I made a combo, the "oil" bit of Snake Oil with the flavors of SJ Astro. Been tweaking it a little while and now it's pretty damn nice.

I may have posted it before but here it is again.

Space Oil

Capella - Green Apple Concentrate 5%
Capella - Sweet Strawberry 4%
TPA - Juicy Peach 2%
TPA- Coconut Extra 1.5%
Lemon Juice 0.5%

Is that last ingredient actual lemon juice or is it a flavor of some sort?

Actual lemon juice. That works out to about 6 drops per 30ml. At least using my dropper, the dropper that comes with a standard 30 ml bottle like you get from TVC or such.

You could also make up a solution of citric acid 10%, or you could use TPA Sour but I just use Lemon Juice. Lots of us do.

I've never even tasted Space Jam before but I happen to have all the flavors with the exception of the lemon juice. How much of a difference does that really make?

Go to the SuperMarket... It makes a difference. Or go ahead and do it without. Then when you get to the supermarket get some and add it... you will see what it does and if you like the addition! I use the real-lemon or store brand. Just plain old lemon juice in a bottle. You can use a real squezed lemon or those little plastic lemons. Why dont you have lemon juice? I thought everyone kept some ;) you can use lime as well. You are just getting the citric acid really.

It's not quite the same taste as Space Jam Astro, The Astro has this weird almost grass and playdough aftertaste. By grass I mean LAWN... Mine is a bit sweeter and the acid from the lemon juice makes it pop.

When I use lemon juice in cooking I prefer to use real lemons. It's rare that I actually use lemons or limes in cooking so I usually don't have lemons hanging around.

I know what you mean though. It seems like every fridge I look in has the obligatory lemon or lime bottle in it :)

Snake Oil

FA - Pear 5%
TPA - Bavarian Cream 3%
TPA - Coconut Extra 1%

If you have regular coconut double it. Other pears may require more or less. I like FA because well I like FA better than TPA.

I just found this post. I love astro but never been able to do the proper thing. It always lacked that missing ingredient that made astro by SJ my favorite liquid. Funny you describe the aftertaste as grassy and play doughie. Any idea what’s missing besides green apple peach juicy and sweet strawberry?
