I just wanted to say, since I've started DIY'ing it's INSANE how long my atty's are lasting.
I've got atomizers that are going on week 7 now. Still as fresh a vape as when I took them out of the package.
I used one of the vendor juices that i still had left over... within 2 days it was vaping like shit and had to be cleaned.
I was going to post this on ecr, but they seem to get a tad annoyed sometimes about DIY stuff like this.
But I'm literally blown away by how long my atties are lasting. I mean, 7 weeks and counting... who knows how long they are going to last!
I'm in a really bad mood right now so forgive me if this seems blunt.
There are a lot of stupid vendors out there. This stuff isn't rocket surgery and sometimes I don't know how these vendors are even able to stay in business because of the dumbass things they do with their products.
A juice should never have oils of any fucking kind or sweeteners of any kind.
Oils are unforgivable plain and simple. They will rape an atomizer in less than two days of use. I used to be a reviewer and so a lot of vendors would send me shit to sample. There was this one idiot who used candy oils in his liquid. Yeah, my atomizer got ruined in about 45 seconds. It tasted good on the first hit and then instantly went to burnt shit. Anyways, oils wreck atomizers and quite frankly this pisses me off because citrus flavors are my favorite, yet I will never get to vape them. I've tried some oil free ones and they were okay.
Sweetners have some lee-way. I've seen a couple vendors with sweeteners that were passable and didn't outright destroy an atomizer. However after time it did destroy it and basically the same thing as with oils happened; the atomizer got burnt to shit and gunked up. There's some sweeteners out there that I think are just plain bad for you to inhale as well. I remember this one guy was using some sweetener in his juice I was testing and I started coughing up sweet tasting mucus for the next week after about two days of use.
Good for you man that your atomizers are lasting so long. If you like the flavor then obviously you are doing it right. There might be a tiny bit of lee way with what I'm saying especially with sweetners however I have followed those two rules like a personal bible and I average 3-5 weeks with my atomizers. Sometimes you just get shitty ones though and they don't last as long. Other times you get an atomizer that's a champ and lasts for fucking ever. When my atomizers die it isn't because of shit taste or gunkage. They just stop working as if they're dying from old age. A few of them stop performing as well before they finally croak though.
With DIY and mods, I've almost cut my ecig cost down to zero. The only bitch is the atomizers. I want to get my hands on a rebuildable because it sure is a bitch dropping 60 bucks on 8 atomizers.
edit* Thanks for the gold!
Where are you spending 8 bucks on an atty..? What kind?
If you get an RDA and rebuild with cotton it would literally be like 10 bucks a year. 100 feet of K1 is under 10 bucks and cotton is like 3.
Even if you use expensive wick like Ekowool that's $1-$1.50/foot or so and it only takes like ~3" to build with.
Actually I think your post is bang on.
There's no reason why when I make the juice myself my atty last 5+ weeks, but when I use vendor juice it doesn't. They are clearly adding stuff to the juice. It's actually concerning because whatever they are adding they aren't telling you what it is. They merely state "PG, VG, Nic, Flavoring".... but we know it's more than that because when I use those things my atties last forever.
Like he said sweeteners gunk the hell out of your coil. I think some vendors add too much(mbv brown sugar).
Thanks for the info.. I'd always wondered why some of the dark dark vendor juices I bought would gunk the hell out of my coils, but my diy stuff is clean clean for a long time.. I never realized or thought they could be adding in oils and crap.. Wow.. That makes much more sense.
Ecr really is starting to get annoyed about diy. Ill probably try to not bring it up as much anymore.
Fuck it, I say keep bringing it up :)
If someone hadn't brought it up in the past, I'd never have gotten into DIY. And there are a lot of folks who have gotten into DIY because people keep bringing it up at ecr.
I have a feeling some of the folks who have a negative attitude towards DIY are tied to the juice vendors or something.
Bring it up. After spending so much on juice I finally decided to give it a go because a few mentioned how cheap and how much better it is. Spent 100 bucks at wizard labs. Made 5 juices so far. 4 of them are great and as good some even better than premium juice and 1 turd. Then again they all have a hard on for 2 juice companies and protanks so they probably wont be receptive.
LOL. Don't forget the mvps. I hate it when they post pics of mvps and egos with clearos and it makes it to the front page. Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problems with those mods, but they don't belong there.
I say bring it up as much as you want. If people are bitching in ECR, they need to chill out. DIY is fun, saves people money, and can really contribute to the community. Look at the people that make mods, for example. Nobody bitches that they are essentially DIY'ing new mods.
I find since I've been vaping honey pearry exclusively, my coils are lasting for eternity. They get that 'seasoned' look, but I actually enjoy the flavor of the seasoned wick and coil far more than a fresh one. I was vaping ECBlend for a while and I got the exact same reaction you're talking about. Idk what it is about those juices, but the quality shows on the deck for sure.
Any good clones of that you recommend?
