Official Clone Recipe Thread
submitted over 11 years ago by kirktOn a banana kick

After wading through the vast wasteland that is the clone thread on ECF, we've decided that what is needed is a clone thread done right. This thread will be policed for proper content and posts not meeting the criteria will be deleted. That said, here's some rules:

  • Top level posts must be a clone recipe that you have personally made and tasted versus the original juice.
  • Sub-level comments may be suggestions for improvement (e.g., "needs more vanilla") or your own version of the same juice. Comments such as "this is spot-on" will be allowed as others test your recipe.
  • Please do not create another top-level post for a juice which is already posted in the top level. Add your recipe underneath the top level post.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO requests for recipes. Those types of posts ended up being about 90% of the ECF thread. If you want a clone for Pluid, wait for one to be posted or (better yet) try creating your own clone.

Recipe formatting should follow these conventions:

Clone of <Juice Name> from <Vendor Name>

<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) @ x%
<Flavor> (<Vendor>) y drops per z ml

Don't put your Nic, PG or VG in the recipe unless you feel it is necessary for the proper blend. All percentages should be a percentage of the final mix (hint: if they add up to 100% you have done it wrong). If you normally work in ml not %, please use a calculator such as eJuice Me Up to calculate the percentages for your post.

Once this thread gets some momentum we will post it in the sidebar. Happy cloning!

Clone of Honey Pearry from The Vapor Chef

Pear (TFA) @ 6%

Strawberry (CAP) @ 5%

Honeydew (TFA) @ 3%

Apricot (LA*) @ 3% *Edited - originally said TFA

Apricot ey? interesting.

My latest batch is:

6.5% pear

3.5% strawberry

3.5% honeydew melon

All TFA.

by PaulyTroutover 11 years ago

I did this exact one with 2 drops of sweetner. Was amazing.

1 points

by kiwimarkover 11 years ago

I just did:

8% pear 5% honeydew melon 2% strawberry

I have seen a lot of similar percentages, and I have made a lot of variants on. I've never had the real one - is the juice a predominantly melon flavor? Also - is it 'ripe strawberry' you are using?

by boltvaporover 11 years ago

I read a thread on a honey pearry clone in this sub and the chef actually chimed in. He divulged that there is no apricot or any sweeteners in the real honey pearry. Maybe he was trying to throw us off his trail so take it with a grain of salt.

by kirktover 11 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

For me Apricot is what took this from good to great. A friend of mine says mine's a little better than the original HP, so give it a try and let me know what you think.

1 points

by louderandsadderover 11 years ago

Yes-it was me who suggested it. I think we just can't pinpoint his fancy flavor suppliers that he can afford to bulk buy (or manufacture in house) and they have more floral notes than what we can get. The apricot adds that "what the heck is that!?l" that's missing from the easily accessible flavorings.

1 points

by kirktover 11 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

I started off with a recipe similar to yours, but when I tasted them back to back I noted that the original HP had ... something extra ... yep that's probably apricot. A little dash of apricot and to me it's a world of difference. I can't get enough of this stuff.

Where are you guys getting the TFA honeydew melon? I can't find it on any UK sites. Same goes for apricot.

1 points

by frogsandstuffover 11 years ago

I got it from wizard labs, but next time I'll likely be buying in bulk directly from TFA.

I've been using this, but adding 2% blueberry extra to bring the berry flavor forward a bit more.

by fuctfuctover 11 years ago

Curious as to why all the clones have more pear then honeydew. TVC description says Honeydew with hints of pear and strawberry. I just ordered the flavors. Well, not apricot .. TPA site doesn't even list it :( .. so i guess i'll find out! heh

1 points

by kirktover 11 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

The honeydew flavoring is very strong, so a little goes a long way. Pear is more subdued, so more is needed.

1 points

by fuctfuctover 11 years ago

Makes sense :). Can't wait to try. Do you steep/cure yours or vape right away?

1 points

by CitrusNinjaover 11 years ago

I just mixed some of this up and used peach in place of the apricot, also I used TFA strawberry since that's what I have.

This stuff is just as good as TVC, no joke. Thanks for this recipe, Honey Pearry is my favorite liquid of all time, and it's great to be able to replicate it. I guess I should also thank TVC for making such a delicious and complex flavor for us all to imitate.

First time posting here. How do I acquire this magic clone? Is it worth plunging into DIY to make my own HP?

1 points

by CitrusNinjaover 11 years ago

If you like (or love) HP and hate spending $10.00/15ml (a fair price for a great product, I'm not bitching, I'm just cheap) then yes. It's completely worth it.

125ml 60mg Nic base - ~$16.00

250ml VG - ~$7.00

250ml PG - ~$7.00

15ml TFA Pear - ~$4.00

15ml TFA Honeydew - ~$4.00

15ml TFA Strawberry - ~$4.00

15ml TFA Apricot - ~$4.00

Total - $46.00 +tax, shipping

And from this you'd have enough liquid to make up to 625ml of liquid, depending on your nicotine preference and VG/PG ratio. You may not have enough to make 625ml of HP, but you could bump up your sizes on the flavorings for just a couple dollars more per flavor. It's pretty awesome, I must say. Since I found this recipe, I've barely vaped anything but Phoney Pearry (thanks again, /u/kirkt). Good luck, and mix carefully.

Clone of Galaxy Grape from Moon Mountain

Grape Juice (TFA) @ 20%

Bavarian Cream (TFA) @ 10%

EM (10% solution) @ 4 drops / 10 ml

1 points

by raskolnikov206over 11 years agoPâtissier

how do you make ethyl maltol solution @ 10%? like, if you had a 50ml bottle, would you fill 5ml of it with ethyl maltol crystals and the rest with PG? or is it more complex than that.

also how much ethyl maltol would is 50grams? that seems like quite a lot. how much sweetener could you make with that? like a damn gallon? lol.

and are all Cotton Candy flavors just 10% ethyl maltol in pg? or is it just a specific brand of cotton candy flavor. ive heard you can just buy cotton candy flavor and substitute it as sweetener since its just ethyl maltol in pg

1 points

by kirktover 11 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

I use 10% by weight, not volume. So 1 g (not ml) of crystals per 10 ml of sovent (usually PG)

Edit: As those below have pointed out, it is 1 g per 10 ml.

1 points

by EcrThrowawayover 11 years ago

Isn't it one gram in 10ml?

1 points

by raskolnikov206over 11 years agoPâtissier

dang.. i dont have a digital scale that reads in miligrams. guess ill get premade

1 points

by lustyrazerover 11 years agoMixologist

The density of PG is 1.04g/ml, so I think you meant 1g crystals. Also, if you're adding 10ml PG, you'd have 1/11 EM (around 9%)

Add 9g PG to 1g EM crystals for 10%

1 points

by EcrThrowawayover 11 years ago

If you want to get it premade, it's TPA Cotton candy, the perfumers apprentice. Don't get the circus cotton candy from them or loranns cotton candy, they're different.

1 points

by raskolnikov206over 11 years agoPâtissier

Thanks for this! Have you tested out FlavorWest's cotton candy flavor? Flavorwest is like 1/4th the price at the smallest increment and gets cheaper when bought in huge amounts

1 points

by PimpinNinjaover 11 years ago

Here's a quick and dirty method for em. 1/4 teaspoon leveled of crystals to 10ml of pg. I've been using this and can't tell the difference between it and premixed.

Seduce Juice Snake Oil

Bavarian Cream (TFA) 3%

Pear (TFA) 9%

The original recipe called for 1% Coconut but I like it with a bit more.

1 points

I didn't have coconut extra so I put in honeydew in it's place. It's definitely missing something, which is obviously the coconut, but the juice is still damn good.

I've been working on one with TFA Toasted Marshmallow instead of Bavarian Cream. I love my bc but I really think the toasted masrhmallow comes closer to the creaminess in Snake Oil. I'll post it up here when I get the levels where I want them.

Tigers Blood

Coconut Extra (TFA) 1.5%
Strawberry (TFA) 12%
Watermelon (TFA) 6%

1 points

by CitrusNinjaover 11 years ago

I followed this recipe and something is missing IMO. Is it just me or does it need sweetener? I love tigers blood, and would love to get this right. All of my flavors are TFA, and when I saw this recipe I bought A LOT of flavoring. Any ideas?

EDIT--This was my first attempt at a recipe, and I didn't realize that you needed to take the PG in the flavoring into account when mixing--duh. Now I'm on board with calculators and pipettes and all that jazz. So, I'm going to take another swing at this one over the holiday, I'm sure it's great when you know what you're doing :)

1 points

by theBigDaddioover 11 years agoMixologist

You could try Capella Sweet Watermelon, I use it over the TFA every time. I have made recipes with each and prefer the sweet watermelon. I read a post that a little raspberry enhances the watermelon. I found it made it taste like chemical raspberry...

At least. For me, it tasted great at two weeks. That disgusting coconut just melts right into the mix and ends up leaving a pretty nice taste.

1 points

by TrupacShakurabout 11 years agoMixologist

How would you take the pg in the flavorings into account? Like how would you work that into a calculator? I plan on getting premixed max vg a 6mg. I've noticed almost all flavors a pg.

1 points

by CitrusNinjaabout 11 years ago

The calculator will figure it all out for you. You just have to tell it that your flavorings are suspended in PG, and it will deduct that from the total so that you get the right mix. I've noticed the same thing, all flavors tend to come in a PG suspension.

Super simple and common knowledge, but I figured it would be good to have it here. It's actually not even a clone seeing as that is the actual recipe, but meh.

1 points

by kirktover 11 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

No, it's fine. I thought it was a little odd at first, but on second thought it gives DIYers a baseline on percentages (and also shows how simple DIT can be at times).

1 points

by fuctfuctover 11 years ago

Sure its not 20%? I asked around a while back and that's the consensus i got. An example.

1 points

by craicladover 11 years ago

Well, Im not certain but I'm pretty damn sure. I literally got a bottle in the post the other day to see if I had mine right and they tasted exactly the same.

Edit: Actually, you may be right. I just taste tested them again and MBVs seems to be a little more sweet/wintergreen-y while mine has that fresh sharp bite that I like.

1 points

Heh, weird to see my comments show up in a screenshot. It could be 18% EI and 2% EM to give it the sweetness.

Still good though :)

MtBaker's site explains two things to help you break down their recipes.

  1. Per their site "We recommend the concentrate to be mixed at 15% - 40% with unflavored Nicotine Juice."
  2. With the above information, they also offer 0 to 5 flavor shots on each flavor. 0 =15%, 1 = 20%, 2 = 25%, 3 = 30%, 4 = 35%, 5 =40%.

Clone of Purple Drank by Vapor Trails

>* 10% Grape flavoring of your choice (a few out there to choose from) >* 4% Watermelon
> * 4% Citrus (play around with this one- lemon-lime, Mt. Dew, etc.) >* 3 drops menthol (Our blend is about 50/50 crystals to PG) >* 3 drops Sweetner (We use Sucralose instead of EM for this recipe)

>and BOOM- Purple Drank. Enjoy everyone, this blend is epic.

>Also, I wanted to throw in that I think most vendors' blends are similar, but without the citrus, and with more watermelon. If you have ever had Purple Drank (you can try it legally if you are perscribed cough syrup), then you know that it has sprite as a base, which is sort of a citrus/lemon flavor. That is why we added citrus to the blend.

Snake Bite - Seduce like

  • Capella - Green Apple Concentrate 5%
  • TPA - Bavarian Cream 3%
  • TPA- Coconut Extra 1%
  • Lemon Juice 0.5% <-- this is like a drop per 5ml

Still needs something the Apple is more pronounced in the Seduce version. Maybe I need to increase the apple, however I don't want it to taste too nasty. However Mrs says mine is better, she thinks the seduce tastes chemical. I get 40 drops per ml with my dropper so each drop is 0.025 ml or .5% in 5 ml.

1 points

> NF Organic Vanilla Cream

Is there any substitute? I live in Canada and this would cost $32 shipping

Clone of Faded Vape's Godfather (30ml sample size)

  • 8% TFA Sweet Cream
  • 5% TFA Bavarian Cream
  • about 5 drops of Capella Vanilla Custard
  • 3% TFA Marshmellow
  • 3% TFA (maybe LA) Creamy Caramel

*percentages are subjective but the flavor is there

Jade Tiger from Mr. E-Liquid. (all MtBakerVapor flavorings)

7% Strawberry

4% Watermelon

5% Pineapple

4% Coconut

Edit: Learned MtBaker is most likely rebottling TFA flavorings. So try those percentages, with Strawberry (Ripe) from TFA and you should be golden.

Curing for 3 days so far, still too perfumey. That Ripe Banana is a bear to work with; it will destroy a syringe in seconds.
