Picked up some Velvet Cloud juice over black friday. My god. Absolutely delicious.
That being said, anyone have anything decent in 100% VG? Would be interested as I'm somewhat lost where to start.
Thanks in advance. Happy vaping.
A few of us work pretty strictly in VG; my body doesn't like PG at all and the only PG I use is what's in flavoring. The reason I started DIY in the first place is I got tired of walking around dehydrated all the time and didn't care much for having to drink a buncha water every day even if it was good for me :)
That said, since straight VG is generally a little too thick to wick properly (but works fine for dripping) I generally try to make sure my mixes are around 20% Not VG; if I'm using PG-based flavoring that means flavoring + distilled water = ~20% of the mix.
My ADV is
-
20% LA Natural Blueberry. This flavoring is VG-based and LA natural flavorings are half the strength of the super-strength LA flavorings everyone sells. They do vape really well, though.
-
3.5% Koolada. You may like more or less; 4% or higher makes me cough.
-
3% LA Cotton Candy. LA Cotton Candy is 10% ethyl maltol in PG; saves me from having to buy PG or EM and I don't have to dissolve any crystals :)
-
10% distilled water.
The mix ends up being a bit more than 80% VG, wicks just fine in a single-punched carto tank and blows huge clouds. I had people staring at me in an airport smoking lounge late last week as I was fogging the place up :)
Some people say VG dulls flavor; I really couldn't tell you as I've never used PG other than what's in flavoring in my mixes. VG does have reduced throat hit, but in this recipe you can adjust the Koolada so it hits as hard as you like :)
Hope this helps -
I've been making spice extracts in PG, but they could easily be made instead in VG. Crush whole spices if you can, use powdered if that's what you can get. Mix about 1 heaping tablespoon of crushed spice in 15ml - 20ml VG in a glass jar then place the jar in simmering water in a pot on the stove for 20min - 40min, then strain or filter while still pretty warm (because VG is thick, hot VG is easier to filter).
I make a ginger candy that's pretty nice, with 10% ginger extract + 10% FW Caramel Candy. I think if you want a VG version, use 10% ginger extract + ethyl maltol dissolved in VG (or VG based caramel candy flavouring, if you can get some).
Check the November recipe thread for more info on my spice extracts.
I do 100% VG using spice/herb extracts made in VG. Although they are actually 85% VG and 15% H20. I use 36 mg Nicotine that is 70% VG/30% Distilled Water. I cut that in half with VG and my extracts to get 18 mg juice at 85/15 VG/H2O. Although not 100% VG they contain no PG. 100% VG is too thick for me.
Spices I extract by putting them in a jar and covering with VG. Put the jar in a pot of simmering water for hours (anywhere from 2-8). Then I let it sit overnight and repeat the "double boiler" method using the jars. I don't know the ideal time for this, but after a week it turns out great. Just take the whole jar and strain it through cheese cloth for 100% VG extract. It is not a strong extract, but it is strong enough to be diluted with more VG and the 70/30 VG/H2O nic juice.
Everything I make is 'Max VG' but until I start extracting for myself, outside of the few teas I've done, I'll have to be satisfied with 86-87% VG.
I'd share, but I assume that you're looking for 100%
For the record, I don't think that Velvet is 100 percent. I tried 'em a while back and it had a few PG elements that were apparent [to me; I could always be crazy]. I did really enjoy the White Beard, but nothing else appealed to me. I wanted so badly to love VCV, but a few of there juices almost tasted of dust... really strange... Anyone with pre-purchased VG based flavorings that they enjoy, please share. I'd love to work in only VG. I was going to try out some of the stuff from NL, but found out that they are all alcohol based, and left an awful residue/ aftertaste
Max VG would work too :)
Aha!
Well in that case.... right now I have a TobacCola that I'm enjoying in the KFL+. I think (this is from memory) it's:
- Cola Syrup (TFA) 4%
- Holy Vanilla (DIY FS) 4%
- Dunhill Pipe tobacco SC (VZ) 2.5%
- Ethyl Maltol (10%?) 1%
- Bavarian Cream (DIY FS) 2%
Its a bit different. Like a Vanilla cola with a nice sweet tobacco at the back end. Te cola syrup is closer to a traditional cola, then a Coke.
If you try it, let me know what you think! I mostly do just tobaccos, but this was an experiement that went unusually well. Not all of my DIY's are ADV, but I haven't purchased juice in months. My old standard was Indigo's line of Tobaccos.
Even the pg in flavoring is too much for me... I break out in hives. I do either 10% TFA cola or 7% cola and 3% tfa hypno as my ADVs. The rest is 10% vodka as a thinner (not needed for drippers, helpful in my gennies and kayfun), a dash of nic, (typically 2-3 mg/ml) for me, and VG.
