December Recipe Thread
submitted almost 12 years ago by InertiaCreepingJust another Moderator

The weather is heating up (or cooling down if you are in the wrong side of the world) and Christmas is around the corner!

Let's get started with a flavour that really suprised me recently

Chai Tea

 TFA Chai Tea 10%
 TFA Honey 1%

Needs to ~~-steep-~~* ~~age~~ cure for a few days, but is a really nice spicy, herbal vape.

^*As ^/u/onions_can_be_sweet ^has ^pointed ^out ^in ^a ^few ^threads, ^steeping ^is ^a ^physical ^reaction ^(?) ^whereas ^we ^are ^waiting ^for ^a ^chemical ^change ^to ^undertake. ^Or ^something ^like ^that.

^Long ^story ^short, ^we ^should ^really ^be ^using ^the ^term ^~~age~~ ^cure ^rather ^than ^steep. ^The ^more ^you ^know!

It wasn't that many threads! 3 or 4 threads. 5 max.

I don't have a recipe handy for this fine December morning... I'm thinking of doing Stolen (German Christmas bread), but I need some almond and walnut to make it right, maybe some kind of raisin as well. I'm waiting on Canvape to get their 30ml flavourings stocked (I've been promised it will be this week!), but I do have a shipment from MBV for some FW goodies.

BTW, it might actually be better to use the term 'cure' rather than age or steep. Ok, maybe 6.

:P

I think "few" counts as anything between 3-10 ;)

Definitely looking at some new bakery flavours, I have some banana nut bread TFA which I'll try out, as well as their cinnamon cookie... might do some mixing now that I think about it

I have this bottle of TFA Acetyl Pyrazine staring at me, like some sort of challenge to make a bready flavour from something other than... well, bready flavours. I've been absolutely swamped with RL lately, though... my creative juices are a bit used up right now.

I've tried FW Banana Nut Bread and while it's ok, it's not much of a challenge... and it gunks up coils like mad. I'd be really interested to know how the TFA version compares. Cinnamon Cookie might be turned into ginger snaps with a bit of ginger...

Another Christmas goodie I might try are snowballs... basically coconut and chocolate, maybe with something to cool it off a bit. I tried chocolate mints... Lorann Creme de Menthe + FW Dark Chocolate... but it was a little bit uninteresting, unlike the Milk Chocolate version which is very tasty. Maybe I need a better dark chocolate flavouring.

Today is actually my 1 year anniversary of qutting smoking, but I'm just not in the mood to make a post on /r/ecr about it. Maybe tomorrow.

Few or many, I should really stop preaching. It bugs me less and less as time goes by.

Cheers, eh!

Congratulations on a year off the analogs! And thanks for what you share here.

Btw, I have an unused bottle of AP that peeks out at me now and then. It's not staring yet but I'm sure that's on the horizon.

Tfa's banana nut bread is pretty good on its own @ 5% (it is fairly strong), but adding in some cinnamon and a creamy flavor kick it up a good bit. I can vape it all day(my recipe is an 8 flavor monstrosity that I'm protective of). I'd be curious how the pyrazine would interact.

Speaking of, maybe try the pyrazine to make a chocolate brownie sort of flavor?

Cure. I like it. I will use this from now on.

The percentages are flavor only.

Tobacco base:

25% tobacco absolute (this is mixed by putting 3 drops of TA in 5ml of premixed TPA ethyl maltol and 5ml PGA)

25% TPA Bavarian cream

18% TPA candy caramel

7% TPA DK tobacco (555)

25% seedmans commercial cigarette

Now to some blends using tobacco base:

25% tobacco base

25% TPA French vanilla

50% FW toasted marshmallow

Mix into base at 15-20%

25% tobacco base 75% TPA banana cream (Steeps out into a decent tobacco/ banana nut bread type flavor)

Mix into base at 15-20%

50% tobacco base

50% fw coumarin pipe

Mix into base at 10-15%

35% tobacco base

65% TPA hazelnut

Mix into base around 10-15%

Mix tobacco base into nic base at 8-10% for a light dry cigarette flavor

Edit: formatting is all screwed up. I tried to fix it

Put two spaces between each recipe. Also if you put five spaces in front of each line it turns into the blue 'code' you see everyone using.

Admiral Pearry

HAHA I like Honey Pearry but decided to experiment, I seriously like this better... sorry TVC! I still love you.

  • Capella - Sweet Watermelon 10%
  • FA - Pear 5%
  • FA - Strawberry 4%
  • TPA - Sour 0.3% <-- this is like one drop per 5ml

You could also use lemon juice in place of the sour. It may be brighter.

I'll bite:

kiwi double 10%

Marshmallow 5%

Lemon 4%

Malted milk 4%

Cinnamon (spice) 2%

Kiwi's real strong to start, but as it cures, that mellows to the warmth from the cinnamon. Pretty damned tasty, to me. I may try some coconut in my next one, though.

What companies are those?

Dunno if I should be telling the police this, but...

Everything is TFA except for the marshmallow, that is Lorann's.

Banana Coconut Cream

10% LA Banana Cream

5% Capella Coconut

5% TFA Vanilla Swirl

50/50 PG/VG 10mg

I like banana so I put quite a bit in but when it cures the banana will mellow out a lot and become sweeter. The throat hit on this one is serious for some reason.

Zzyzx

Clove (TFA) 2%
RY4 Asian (TFA) 10%
Vanilla Custard (TFA) 5%

After a two week steep this is surprisingly mellow, with kind of caramel and coffee undertones.

Not my first DIY, but my first I've wanted to post.

I call it Purple Mountain.

6% TFA Watermelon

6% TFA Honeydew

6% TFA Grape Juice

Add Koolada and/or Menthol to taste. I also recommend maybe a few drops of Ethyl Maltol.

These are ballpark numbers, too. New to this, again, never posted a recipe, but I made a 30mg batch with 2ml of each flavor, 3.3ml Nic and 20.7ml VG (I vape 4mg max VG). I added a small bit of menthol and about 6 drops of Ethyl Maltol. I think I will end up adding a bit more menthol or maybe Koolada as it steeps. The watermelon sits underneath the Honeydew and Grape Juice, which seem to be vying for dominance at the moment.

EDIT: Well, I was going for something akin to MBV's Thug Juice with this recipe, and after adding menthol crystals and steeping a bit, I hit close enough to be very happy. Everything has levelled out flavor-wise and I'm getting a very lush, fruity vape. My first successful DIY mix (I usually make single flavor juices).

In the spirit of Christmas I'll share a very simple holiday vape I made recently which I kind of enjoy. It either tastes like Holiday Glade air freshener or Strippers chewing Big Red gum. Your call.

TFA Coconut Candy 10% TFA Cinnamon Spice 5%

Happy Hollandaise everyone.

Man that sounds good! I really need to buckle down and learn to DIY. Chai and Eggnog mixed would be my main holiday flavor I think.

Ok, so this is a first attempt and hasn't had time to cure, but I'm pretty happy with it on first taste.

Snickerdoodle-ish cookie:

 CAP Sugar Cookie 8%
 FA Cookie 8%
 OSDIYS Baked Cinnamon Roll 4%
 FW Butterscotch 4%

Note: OSDIYS - Onestopdiyshop.com, recently released their own flavor line. The baked cinnamon roll is great! Much more subtle on the cinnamon than other flavors I've tried, nice bready flavor for the roll.

Fennel & Vanilla Spiced Juice

  • 1.5g fresh ground organic fennel seeds in about 20ml VG, steeped for 20 minutes in double boiler
  • 1/2 pod split organic vanilla bean in about 20ml VG, steeped 4-5 times in double boiler (had this around for a few juices I've been trying, only gets better with age if you leave the bean in)
  • After steeping and filtering the above, use 10ml fennel VG and 11ml vanilla VG
  • Add 1.2ml of http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/1rfoff/second_batch_clove_black_pepper_allspice_cinnamon/
  • Add 1ml RO water
  • Add 6ml 48mg/ml nicotine to bring final to about 10mg/ml for 29ml of juice
The fennel really sweetens and enhances the vanilla, and the clove spice marries the two together seamlessly.

it is pretty tasty; first batch I've liked enough to make 30ml of. I'll have to try adding a bit of lemon to it and see what happens!
