Finished my Lorann single flavor mixes... here's my verdicts/reviews
submitted almost 12 years ago by joekerr37

Ok, so I've finish testing various lorann flavors in single flavor mixes. Thought I'd share my views on them for the benefit of others.

  • Banana Cream 8 out of 10 - Tasty flavor. I also suspect it will mix well with other flavors. (mixed at 10%)

  • Watermelon 8.5 out of 10 - this was a tricky flavor. At first I didn't like it but then a couple days later I really did. It's a very mellow flavor, so if you don't want mellow stay away from this (as a single flavor anyway). (mixed at 15%).

  • Creme de la menthe 8 out of 10 - A bit dry (needs a sweetner I think) but otherwise very nice menthol 'after eights' taste. (mixed at 10%)

  • Butter rum 9 out of 10 - Excellent taste, tastes like a butterrum lifesaver. (mixed at 15%). (warning: they say this apparently can crack tanks, so use at your own risk. My drip tip came lose from my clearo and this might have caused it, won't know until I try it again).

  • English Toffee 9 out of 10 - Taste JUST like english toffee. (mixed at 10%)

  • Apple 7 out of 10 - extremely mellow taste, which is nice when you are looking for that but otherwise not so good. I do suspect this would mix well with stronger flavors though. (mixed at 15%)

  • Raspberry flavor 7 out of 10 - a very one dimensional flavor, but it definitely tastes like raspberry. Ok as a single flavor but I suspect it will really shine when added to other flavors. (mixed at 10%)

  • Bubble gum 7 out of 10 - It's 'ok'... it's 'almost' a true bubble gum flavor. I suspect with a sweetner added or perhaps another flavor this could end up being amazing, but on it's own it's only a 7 out of 10. (mixed at 10%)

  • Marshmellow flavoring ** 7 out of 10** - it tastes like marshmellows, but on its own its a bit boring. I think this will make an excellent sweetner though, plan on using it with other flavors a lot. (mixed at 10%)

  • Cheesecake flavor 7.5 out of 10 - This is a very nice flavor... similar to marshmellow but better on its own. I could vape this quite a bit on its own, but suspect it will really pop once it is mixed with another flavor. (mixed at 10%)

  • Pralines and cream 6.5 out of 10 - tastes like pralines and cream, but not a flavor I particularly like. (mixed at 10%)

  • Cherry 4 out of 10 - hard to describe. A mute flavor that feels too strong. Perhaps at a lower % it would work, but at 10% it didn't. It definitely has value being added to other flavors though at a low % (when I mixed it with cotton candy it had a positive affect and tasted good).

  • Strawberry kiwi 5 out of 10 - has a soapy perfumey taste to it. That said, I could see it mixing well (in lower %) with other fruit flavors. (mixed at 10%).

  • cotton candy flavoring 5 out of 10 - doesn't taste like cotton candy, taste like nothing really. It does leave a sweet taste, but without any real flavor. It's great as a sweetner though. (mixed at 10-15%)

My rating system is pretty simple. Anything 8 or above is, for me, a satisfactory vape (ie. very enjoyable). Anything between 6-7 is 'ok' but missing something to be truly enjoyable. Anything under 6 is crap on it's own.

So there you go guys, hope that helps someone out at some point.

If I stumble upon any gem mixes (as I now move beyond single flavors) I'll let you know.

I'm liking Loranns more and more these days-even more so since it's a Michigan product (so I'm biased being a Michiganer, it's still kinda cool!) I also like that they are very easily available at bulk food and cake supply stores. I just stocked up last weekend and already have 4 or 5 new amazing flavor mixes right outta the gate, where as with TFA they seem to need much more tweaking % wise and steeping time (this also may be due to getting over the DIY learners curve but hitting that many home runs on original recipes is kinda crazy and I'm pretty sure it's due to using a majority of Loranns.) Great review-keep it up! Bonus recipe using some of the flavors you reviewed: English toffee 5% LA Cheesecake 5% LA Marshmallow 2% LA Juicy peach 5% (TFA wah-wah but it's what I had)

hmmm what does that recipe taste like? I do think english toffee and cheesecake would go well together.

It's surprisingly dry-kinda like southern hospitality from TVC with a lighter cream peach finish. My husband goes through liters of TVC and he says he likes mine better-he may be slightly biased because I know where he sleeps. ;)

Great review, thanks!

I've been liking LA Creme de Menthe lately mixed with FW Milk Chocolate... 2.5% LA CDM + 12.5% FW MC. Tastes like a Laura Secord French Mint chocolate bar. And I've found LA Apple mixed with Capella Green Apple (2/3:1/3) gives a cider-like apple result. I got some Lorann Pumpkin to put in my pumpkin pie mix... I tried a lot of %, and finally landed at <1%... it's the strongest LA Flavour I've had besides Wintergreen.

This is surprising. How is it on its own?

At a very low % it is nice - tastes like fresh pumpkin, but at anything higher than 1% it is quite horrible.

Weird.

I'd have to agree.. Mixing their pumpkin flavor is hard.. I love pumpkin and their pumpkin flavor is STRONG! I think I made 5ml and mixed at 5% and almost died. I made a new 5ml and just used a few drops of the 5ml pumpkin lol. Be careful with that stuff..
