Hi guys
I'm the maintainer of www.e-liquid-recipes.com - a place where you can build your own recipes, save them as private or share them, comment on them, rate them and much more.
I hadn't touched the site since I launched it almost 3 years ago. Now I've gone and redesigned it, and made it all pretty for you guys ;)
If you don't know it, come and join the 1500 other people regularly using the site :-)
I welcome suggestions, but please use the feedback form on the site ;-)
Myself - I'm still very happy about vaping 7 Marlshade: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/470/7+Marlshade+III
I also like DV's Absinthe and FA's RY4 mixed with a bit of Shade.
Happy vaping guys!
One thing I'd like to see is the ability to search for recipes by entering a list of flavors and turning up results of recipes in the database that you can make with the flavors you listed.
I'll be checking it out. Anything about making your own extracts?
Heads up, on my android phone (480x320), the recipe content div is pushed offscreen about 2/3 em. Scrolling sideways is not a pleasant user experience on a smartphone. Otherwise really well done :-)
Nice!
A cumulative/running total after each ingredient would be helpful for the way I mix, if you're interested in adding another column.
Not sure I understand - Can you elaborate? :)
Yeah, that was a little vague, sorry.
I tend to measure and mix in a graduated vial for 10ml batches, as opposed to measuring in a syringe or pipette and then squirting the result into a vial/bottle/whatever. So I'm watching how much I have in my vial as I go along adding ingredients. This may not be the best or correct way but I figure it compensates for what's in needles (if I'm using one), running off the outside of needles, etc. I feel like I have better control, measuring in a 10ml vial.
I pre-mix my working nic base (24mg, 70/30), and 0 nic base (70/30), and keep them in 30ml dropper tip bottles to avoid using syringes and opening bigger bottles all the time. I have a nice control of either squirting or dripping from them. Then I have PG and VG in bigger bottles if I need/want to adjust the PG/VG ratio but that generally requires getting a syringe out. I use pipettes for flavors.
So sometimes I'll calculate where I should be (in ml) in my running total after each ingredient is added into the vial, and I'll jot it down after that ingredient for reference. I can sort of check my work along the way with something like "ok, I'm at 6.4ml now and need to go to 7.2ml with this ingredient", or somesuch. Obviously, after the final ingredient, the total should equal the amount I intended to mix (in ml) in the first place, and that's how much I should have in my vial.
It looks like a lot when I type it all out but saves me some messing around and cleanup when I'm mixing small quick batches. Thanks for listening.
I think I get it. But the running total, should that just be from the top and down until the total as an extra column?
Anyway, I will consider it - Perhaps as a preference setting, so it's not shown by default...
Right now I am working on making an admin system that can take care of the duplicate flavors - I wanted to give my users free reins when it came to flavors, but that means "Melon" from "The Perfumers Apprentice" or "The Flavor Apprentice" is named anything from "(TPA) Melon" (preferred) to "Melon TFA", "Flavor Apprentice Melon" or anything in between. That's gonna make it hard for when I introduce the tool that finds recipes that contain specific flavors that you own :)
I wish people would comment on their flavours rather than just posting the recipe by itself.
That said, great site, I've bookmarked it and will be creating an account later.
I've launched the crowdsourced duplicate flavor checker. If you feel like helping, you can head over to "My page", and click "Duplicate checker". Then enter one or more search terms of the duplicate flavors that you would like to eliminate. Say for instance "FA Apple" - Locate the flavor that you think should be the "real" flavor and check the radio button for that. Then locate all the flavors you think are duplicates of this, and check the checkbox for those. Then click "Toggle unchecked" to get a better view of what you have checked off. If you are happy, then just click "Suggest duplicates".
I will go through all the suggestions, and either accept or reject them, and our database will look much nicer.
In the next few days, I will create a system that interfaces with your flavor stash, so you can check off the flavors you would like, and see if there are any recipes that uses them. Because of our work with the duplicates, the results should be much better!
I've removed a LOT of duplicates - almost 2000 from Flavour Art and The Flavor/Perfumer's Apprentice. :)
So, I love the site! I'm so excited to start on some new blends. Though, I have a suggestion: an option for us DIY 'ers who already have our vg/pg/nicotine ratio premixed? Maybe there was an option and I didn't see it? Amazing work! You should be so proud! Not only a great site, but a lot of people are appreciating the results from your hard work! :)
Thanks :) I am like you actually, I mix up a liter of base fluid, then I just mix up a batch with that liquid and add flavoring. The way I use the site, is just add my usual numbers, as if I was mixing up a complete batch from scratch, with nic juice etc, then add my flavoring. When I actually mix it up, I just look at the flavoring numbers. Does that make sense?
one thing is sure though, you made a major contribution to have diy ejuice recipes summarized/databased.
removes the chaos, the complexity, not to mention the perplexity of learning and gathering a list of potential and favorite recipes.
great idea, great job, daath. and we appreciate this!
Thank you for you kind words :) I'm happy that people use it!
Very soon I'll publish a list of flavors that people should be aware of - flavors that cracks tanks, contain oils, artifical colorings etc - Hoping people will help maintain it, so it will be a "go to" list of flavors to be aware of :)
