I just finished, in record time, making several batches of ejuice because of a suggestion I saw on Reddit - I can't find the post, though. If you're the one that shared it, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My hands & shoulders aren't aching from trying to draw VG into a syringe because of your method:
- Remove needle
- Take the plunger out
- Put finger over bottom
- Pour VG directly into the syringe from the bottle
- Put the plunger back in & "splurt" it out
I pre-make my nic/PG/VG base for my recipes & had quite a bit of VG to measure with my 25cc syringe.
It was stupid easy. Thank you for sharing!
EDIT: Added the "splurt" process ;-)
The easiest (and cleanest) method I have found is to simply take the needle off your syringe and use as normal. VERY easy to draw, no warming the VG necessary, and no mess.
I made 168ml base total, so a bit more than a mug's worth.
It was much easier & cleaner to pour the VG directly into the syringe (minus needle).
I've tried drawing it straight out of the bottle without the needle, but made a huge mess because my largest syringe is a luer lock.
Ahhh yeah, I never gave it a second thought. One of my first jobs was as a "potter." Potting is when you surround transformers/inductors usually with a thick epoxy to insulate them like this. Most epoxies were poured straight into the open syringe (the carcinogenic and mutagenic stuff had a special pump that pushed it in through the needle end).
Are you the one that mentioned it?
As simple as it seems, it never crossed my mind. Now I don't dread the VG part of brewing. ;-)
Shit yeah, fuck trying to suck 50ml of honey-consistent VG through a bloody needlehead syringe!!
Edit: Although I chuck the punger back in once I pour the VG into the syringe to pump it out the bottom in a satisfying "SLPURT*.
Haa! I do too! My favorite part of the process.
Although I will admit that I have started premixing 70/30 solution so I only have to use one big bottle of base.
These blunt tips have wide enough openings to easily use with VG. I'm not sure what gauge they are but they make it effortless to use a syringe with VG.
I used to do it this way as well. Consider this upgrade :-)

Same result, but no need to keep your thumb covering anything, and no bottleneck for your VG to squirt through.
You're welcome ;-)
If you want to give it a try a cut down carto condom fits perfectly over a Luer fitting and even has a little silicone spike to plug the hole.
It's you! Man, thank you for sharing that simple step.
Seriously, when I read-it (hah) I had one of those surprised cartoon double-take moments. "You've GOT to be kidding me," I said to myself.
Measuring VG went from being the hardest part of the process to the easiest.
Yesterday while I was brewing, you were my hero! Were your ears burning?
;-)
Vegetable Glycerine has a density of 1.261g/ml, so get yourself a .1g scale like this one for $13 and you can just pour the VG straight in. So if you want 10ml of VG, for instance, weight would be 10ml x 1.261g/ml = 12.6g.
