Just curious, have any of you guys looked into thermal printers?
My fiancee and I have a small farm business, and we were looking a lot of label options for our pet food products and I ended up spending $70 on an old LP 2844 thermal printer (it was colored yellow from sitting in a shop window, but totally functional). Rolls cost me $25 for 700 4"x4" labels (there were many size options, I used Barcode Discount and chose the extreme temp labels), and since it acts like a plain ol' printer I can customize every single label.
I'm not sure what options are out there for thermal printer labels, but it might be a low cost option ($.035/label, not factoring in the printer) that'll let you actually print a unique label for every bottle on the fly and not have to worry about toner or anything. I'd be happy to do a test print at whatever size (obviously on the 4" label) to see if the resolution would hold up.
Looking at the site, the smaller the label the more cost effective it becomes, so it might be worth considering.
Did you check it out yet? Does it work well? Can you print in more then just black and white?
Be sure to choose the weather resistant option.
Can I write on these with a marker or pen? Or have you just been printing labels for each flavor?
Here is mine. I used the matte ones, and write in the Mg/Ml in pen.
I'm not really a vendor btw, just mixing for a few friends to support my own habit, and wanted something nice looking. These work great for me. I'd had a difficult time finding anything that would stick, and assumed I wasn't alone.
