I mix most of my flavorings at 5%-10%, a majority of these are fruit flavors though. I've also ran into the same problem with flavors like pecan and honey and they only took a few drops to take over the other flavors.

I did try and google this, but I couldn't get the search terms right apparently =/

I dislike tfa flavours for this reason. I find that if I use a smaller % I get less perfumey taste, but it also means that the flavour is muted. I use Capella's now mostly at around 15% and have yet to have an issue with the perfumey taste.

I used to mix my distilled-water and flavorings into warmed PG. Now I do a hot water bath after mixing. Which is put a little tap-hot water into a cup then stick your beaker or open-bottle in it and wait for the water to come to room temp. That said I've changed to Flavor West since I found I can use the same technique to mix the same flavors stronger.

Check the details page for the flavor on the Wizard Labs site for recommended strengths. Most say to start at 5% and go up/down from there. I tend to end up at 5-7%.
