Speed up the steeping time
submitted almost 13 years ago by moxid

Something i read in a german diy juice forum:

They are using yogurt makers to speed up the steeping time of their juices. Letting the juice sit in the yogurt maker for 24 hours is said to give the same flavor as letting it steep for 1 week.

Haven't tried it yet, since i'm quite new to this whole vaping thing, just wanted to let you know.

I use a heated ultrasonic cleaner. It heats the water and vibrates the liquid at 44000Hz or something like that. 30 minutes literally comes out to about 1 weeks worth of steep time. There's articles about it on ecf DIY liquid forums, but I can't link due to being on my phone right now.

Cup warmer with a little bit of water for ~15 min. That's what I've done the whole time I've made ejuice.

I have an Immersion circulator that I've built for cooking, and it sounds like this would be a prefect thing for accelerating the steeping process. It'll hold a water bath at any temp between boiling and room temperature, within 1/10th of a degree indefinitely.

Build plans here. It also cooks the PERFECT steak.

Just take the top off and let it sit in some warm water.

Maybe it'd be helpful to let us know what a yogurt maker actually does? Because my idea of "yogurt maker" is a starter from a previous batch and high fat dairy in a sterilized container.

They're using something like this

It can keep an constant temperature of 40°C/42°C (~104°F) which seems to speed up the steeping process.

I throw a batch of bottles into my slow cooker for a hour. Works for me.

What temperature? I'll have to try this. Do you open the bottle or seal it?

I turn it on low with a good bit of water in it before I start mixing. By the time I get my first bottle done I seal the cap then throw it in. Slow cookers don't get much over 200 and I don't leave them in for long. Every so often I pluck one out and give it a shake. I eyeball the bottle after thirty min and pull it out to cool down for a bit.

Cool, i'll give it a shot when I make my next batch. Thanks!

I underestimated my remaining last batch and ran out so I had to make an emergency batch last night. It doesn't taste quite right without steeping.

They get too hot and melt plastic bottles I find.

I use the foot-bath. It shakes and heats the juice.
