1 2 3 Burley

> Simple 123 recipe. Caramel, nuts, tobacco. Red Burley pairs beautifully with Soho. Hangsen Ry4 adds some extra depth and fills in the base with some slight woody notes.

Man, I been eying this one for nearly 11 months, posted originally in the 2021 January Recipe thread. Why it took me this long to mix, I have no idea. Ok, I have an idea, Red Burley is, put simply, overused. It's a well deserved love that RB gets, I just am one of those people that needs some "new" in my mixes. If it's too familiar, I kind of numb to it; flavors should excite the senses! That said, when I saw this one, I knew this was the mix for me. The biggest draw is that it screamed balance. I love RB as an accent, usually in a blend 0.4-0.6 is enough for me to wet up a mix and slide deep undercurrents of nut and pizazz like a secret weapon. Here, at 1, it seems like the perfect pole position to drive a hint of RY4 (at a reasonable percent to not be dominant) and Soho to just deepen all this richness, altogether leaving room for space between the flavors to not tire out the palate. If you think I am waiting the recommended 14 days for this, you aint never seen a kid foam at the mouth as Xmas approaches.

Tested off the shake mtl (STNG/TS Single 0.6/2.0 ID/23W), yes the RY4 is demure and subtle. It's already everything I want. I get that Red Burley pushed up to the top of the palate and the bottom is this nice subtle nut base layer. Dessert tobacco without the dessert. I am gonna let this steep and come back in 7 and 14 days. That's a threat, not a promise.

Well, I lost track of time and then just finished this mix. Firstly, was it good? Yes. Realistically, how could it not be? Three flavors with specific jobs: RB for the bacco, ry4 for the accents, and soho to boost the nutty and smear joy all over it. It's a solid simple mix. I liked it a bit better off the shake when RB was a little more forceful. After some time, it settled down, as FLV baccos tend to do. That's when I started thinking that if I were to mix a larger batch of this than 30mL, I would up the RB to 1.5-2. I prefer a stronger bacco flavor myself.

What Can We Learn from This Mix?

As it stands, this is a great version of what I call The Hedge (1 bacco flavor and stuff to round it out/pull it away from bacco land). It's using the King of all Baccos with accent and Soho. In a way, this is real strength of this mix: it literally could be anything. Starting with a complex and tasty af bacco, add a dash of ry4 of choice, smear with SoHo and you will have a winner. Try this with any of the following:
